House in the Trees

Designing this lovely home in West Vancouver was a true collaboration - first with the builder during the construction phase, and then with the new owners to furnish and personalize their living space. Working to highlight the property's trees and foliage, we introduced an earthy palette of greens, creams and browns inside to compliment and blend with the natural environment. Twig-patterned wallpaper in the powder room and a landscape print in the living room reference the woods outside. Stained, custom maple cabinetry in the office and family room showcase the family's mementos and provide storage. The living room is layered in shades of cream, including a custom sofa, creating a softness to the room. A welcoming, winding staircase connects to an upper mezzanine, where outside the children's rooms, is a large window seat adorned with custom, upholstered pillows for lounging. Varying windows treatments compliment each room to add a distinct ambiance.
